Step 1
Retrieve your two cylinder Head Covers from Stage 09 and your Engine assembly from the previous stage. Fit these onto the tops of the posts inside each Cylinder Bank. Secure the Head Covers into place with four (4) Type H screws – two on each side.
The Head Covers are marked ‘L’ and ‘R’ to tell them apart. Make sure the Head Cover Gaskets are still installed, then starting on the left side of the engine, fit the Left-Hand Head Cover into place, as shown:
Then, secure this Head Cover into place with the Type H screws. This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on the threads of all screws going into metal parts:
In the same way, but on the other side of the engine, fit the Right-Hand Head Cover into place, as shown:
And, secure it into place with the Type H screws:
Step 2
Retrieve your remaining Plug Caps from Stage 08. Carefully cut four (4) Plug Caps from the sprue(s) and insert their keyed posts into the Head Cover holes we just installed screws into – two on each side.
As before, these will only sit flush if the key of each Plug Cap matches the position of the slot beside each hole, pointed out here:
Step 3
Press the two pins on the end of the Spark Plug Cables into the holes at the forward end of each Head Cover, then connect the six hollow connectors to the Plug Caps on each side.
As far as I can tell, both of the Spark Plug Cables are exactly the same:
While there are extremely tiny pins on each Plug Cap connector and they probably match these tiny grooves inside the respective ‘boots’ of the Spark Plug Cables, I don’t think it makes enough difference to use one or the other as we go:
Starting on the left side of the engine, slide these four middle ‘boots’ over the end of these middle Plug Caps, as shown:
Next, slide these two rear ‘boots’ over the end of these Plug Caps, as shown:
Then, press the two smaller boots at the forward end of the Spark Plug Cables onto these matching posts of the Left-Hand Head Cover:
Repeat this process to attach the other Spark Plug Cable on the Right-Hand Head Cover, as shown:
Step 4
Carefully press the three eyelets of the Upper Left Manifold Guard onto these matching pins of the Left-Hand Head Cover:
In the same way, press the three eyelets of the Upper Right Manifold Guard onto the matching pins of the Right-Hand Head Cover:
Step 5
Press the two pins of the Lower Left Exhaust Manifold Guard into the matching holes at this location on the left side of the engine:
Step 6
Retrieve your Air-Box assembly from Stage 07. Press the Air-Box onto these matching top posts of the engine, orienting it as shown:
Thoughts
I love it when we finally bring parts from various stages together. And, we now have the majority of our engine assembled. I feel the more we add to it, the more amazing it looks!
