Return to the BUILD

“With their tapered shape, the windows complement the sleek lines of the doors while providing excellent visibility for the driver.”

The Right Door (2)

IMPORTANT: For the first time I have ever seen in a partwork build, there is a part attached to the clear plastic blister shell with a twist tie. Be sure to remove any of these ties before pulling the part from the shell:

I did not notice the twist tie and broke off this tiny hinge/screw piece. I had to glue it back into place, as shown:

Step 1

Retrieve your Right Door assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Right Window to these posts of the Right Door (Upper), as shown.

TIP: While this Window does come with a protective film on it, the film has to be peeled back a bit to allow the installation. Using vinyl gloves while handling clear plastic parts will help prevent getting fingerprints all over them. Also, as we are working with painted exterior panels, I recommend having a soft surface such as a cloth or towel under these parts:

Secure this Window into place with two (2) Type G screws.

Do not over-tighten these screws as we could risk cracking the plastic. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on the threads of all screws going into metal parts:

Step 2

Fit the two rounded tabs of the Right Door Upper Panel over these matching posts of the Right Door (Upper), as shown.

This Upper Panel fits to the outside of the Window and a small tab (arrow below) keeps the Window from moving inward:

Secure this Upper Panel in place with two (2) Type G screws:

Step 3

Push the split-pin of the Right Door Piston into this hole of the chrome hinge, orienting it as shown.

This can be difficult to push on, but it will eventually pop through the hinge:

I am really upset with myself for not seeing the twist tie holding the Upper Panel in its plastic shell and breaking it. I hope I gave my viewers enough notice on this page to keep them from doing the same. Other than that, I think our Door is coming along quite nicely!
