The Exhaust Tailpipes

Step 1

Retrieve your Rear Chassis assembly from Stage 45. Press one of the Central Exhaust Tailpipes onto the inner pipe of the Right Rear Exhaust.

To determine which Tailpipe is which, note how the two Central Exhaust Tailpipes are identical and only have two small tabs inside them. The left and right Tailpipes have three tabs inside and these tabs are laid out in opposite patterns as seen here:

With the Central Tailpipes, note how the tabs are different widths and match the different sized slots of the inner pipes of the Rear Exhaust:

Knowing this, we can properly press fit the first Central Exhaust Tailpipe onto the Right Rear Exhaust, as shown. If you find the fitment loose, you can use a few small drops of super glue to secure them in place:

Next, press the Right Exhaust Tailpipe onto the outer pipe of the Right Rear Exhaust.

The large tab of the Right Exhaust Tailpipe matches this slot of the Right Rear Exhaust, while the two small tabs will fit along the outer side:

Knowing this, we can properly press fit the Right Exhaust Tailpipe to the Right Rear Exhaust, as shown:

Step 2

Press the remaining Central Exhaust Tailpipe onto the inner pipe of the Left Rear Exhaust, aligning the Tailpipe tabs to the slots of the pipe.

Again, this Central Tailpipe has different sized tabs to match these different sized slots:

Finally, press the Left Exhaust Tailpipe onto the outer pipe of the Left Rear Exhaust, as shown:

We are so close to mounting the Tail assembly to our Chassis!  Keep the unused Safety Clips nearby for installation in the next stage.
